Effective cleaning of pipettes

Chemistry, water or other analyses that require precise measurement and dispensing of liquid reagents depend on the use of pipettes. Some pipettes are disposable, however, reusable glass pipettes are preferred because they are generally of higher quality and more accurate calibration. The main disadvantage of using glass pipettes is that they are difficult to clean between users.

Some pipette cleaners are simple plastic pots that can be filled and siphoned multiple times. Cleaning is done by soaking and rinsing. After this process, the pipette is usually placed in an oven for drying. This process may take several hours and requires handling of wet pipettes. Therefore, the tip can easily break, making the pipette unusable. Another cleaning method is to use a laboratory glassware washer. The Miele laboratory glassware washer equipped with a pipette injector basket and designated cleaning agents is ideally suited for this task and provides repeatable and analytically clean results.
