Taiana Taylor explains why she works harder than anyone you know

There is nothing Teyana Taylor can't do. In fact, there are very few things that stars have not done. Although she started her career as a dancer and singer, she has since added an actress, director, creative director (for retailer PrettyLittleThing) to her resume, and recently joined LG as a spokesperson.

She collaborated with the brand to launch their latest event, LG Laundry Dance Lab, which aims to inspire people to upgrade their laundry routines by being active and having fun (and try their fashionable washer/dryer combo series). Watching Taylor burst into some daunting dance moves after loading the washing machine into the "Two of Us" mix. She also joined the campaign of teenage TikTok sensation Jalaiah Harmon.

As a mother of two children and a wife who is often booked and busy, we can’t help wondering whether, among other things, the time spent doing housework and spending time with children at home is as fun as it is advertised. See what she thinks about the fun of taking on tasks with her daughters, but why the busier she is wearing a hat, the better for the star and her family.

ESSENCE: What attracted you to this interesting event at LG? This is different from what we have seen in the past where you lend your talents to others.

Teyana Taylor: That's what really attracted me to participate in the event, its fun and relaxing nature! I am naturally a person who likes to have fun anyway. So when the event first started, I saw some of the first videos and "choreographers", which I thought was great. The opportunity to dance with little Miss Jalaiah is also super fun! She is such a talent. She reminded me of my 15-year-old self.

You make laundry for the family look very exciting! But when you are not working and wearing one of the many hats, what is a day like taking care of girls and doing housework at home?

Wow, where do I even start my family life with the girls? They bring such great energy and goals to my daily life, I can talk about those moments endlessly. Every second I spent with them in our refuge is so precious to me. That's when I wear a mother's hat exclusively. It's as simple as Juni said, "Mom let us bake a cake", or the three of us stand up straight and dance to the music while Rue disrupts what we just did.

How do you balance all the roles you have? You are a director, creative director of PrettyLittleThing, actor, singer, wife, mother. What does it mean for you to prioritize self-care so that you are not too overwhelmed?

The problem is that it has no exact formula. I like to stay busy. It keeps me calm because it convinces me that something is happening. This is all about driving and understanding your reasons. Why is mine my family. They are my number one priority. I also believe that if you put God first, everything else will come naturally.

You have started the final farewell journey of rose petals. How do you feel when you are ready to stay away from music? What is the experience that stopped you from bringing happiness to you and prompted you to choose happiness in other ways?

I feel great! If you think of life as a book, you won't be afraid to turn pages. You will effortlessly scroll through new chapters from chapter to chapter, curiously looking forward to seeing what happens next. This is exactly how I feel. In many cases, the best [not yet] has arrived!

As a dancer, a very amazing dancer, how do you feel to see your husband do a great job dancing with the stars? In the process of pursuing different passions, how do you encourage each other?

I am super proud of him! I like to see him perform well in that field. He was really there week after week and gave everything he had. You can tell from his performance that he is not here! [laugh]. It's so funny, because I'm really guiding him, like "Baby, you get it! Go out and make mom proud!" [laughs]. Regarding Iman, he has always been my biggest cheerleader.
