So you have your pressure washer and you are ready to clean it. Now, which high-pressure washer nozzle or tip should you choose to do the job? There really is no secret-choosing the right tip may be easier than you think! We even include a pressure washer nozzle chart to help you understand the difference.

High-pressure cleaners usually have a set of nozzles. How many may vary, but there are six basic types: 0°, 15°, 25°, 40°, soap, and turbine. We will introduce and demonstrate its working principle, purpose and why you might want to use one type instead of another.

Four nozzles with different degrees of marks and colors spray water in a triangular pattern matching the label. So when you see 0°, 25°, etc., this is describing the spray pattern. The turbine nozzle uses a fast circular rotating motion to make the 0° nozzle cover look like 25°. These five are responsible for removing deposits.

The soap nozzle is mixed with soap or other cleaning agents to apply a layer of foam to any object you clean. It is not actually designed to remove sticky substances on its own.

Back to the nozzle, choosing the right nozzle for the job is to get the pressure you want. Let's start with the 0° nozzle. It gives you the absolute highest pressure. When you see the PSI rating of a pressure washer, the maximum rating is achieved with a 0° nozzle.

The red 0° nozzle is only used to reach the soffit and other heights, where the extra pressure allows you to get in better. It can also really help remove super stains and debris on concrete and metal. However, by bringing it too close, you can almost engrave your initials on the driveway!

You also don't want to use this special high-pressure cleaner head on painted surfaces, siding or wood, because it can easily remove the coating and destroy softer materials. Needless to say, when using a pressure washer, you should wear tight shoes-and be very careful not to let the 0° tip touch any part of you or anyone else.

The yellow 15° high pressure washer nozzle is very suitable for treating stubborn stains such as mold and mildew on PVC fences. It also provides you with a strong spray, so don't "stay" in an area for too long. If you are not careful, that 15° tip may start to remove aggregate and paint from the concrete.

When using it on the siding, make sure to keep the wand far enough to provide enough spread on the vinyl. We do not recommend using this nozzle for painted wooden siding-unless you are going to paint.

Use the green 25° nozzle to safely clean the siding, deck, sidewalk or driveway. It can also remove stubborn dirt or mud from off-road vehicles and wheels. Just keep a safe distance to ensure that the paint will not be damaged. This is a great all-round nozzle, and if you are not sure where to start, this is a great choice.

The 40° white pressure washer nozzle provides you with the widest spray pattern. Use this technique to spray and wash cars, car windows, and anything you want to wash off. If the surface is fragile, this nozzle allows you to spray a wider spray with less pressure so that it will not be damaged.

I also want to talk about two other high pressure washer nozzles or tips. These provide more than simple spray patterns.

Okay, let's talk about that turbo nozzle. This is indeed a great invention because it uses the power of the 0° tip and rotates quickly to cover the cone of about the diameter provided by the 25° tip. This means you can use higher pressure to quickly clean a larger area because you can get pressure and coverage.

Use it in the same area as using a 0° or 15° nozzle-just test the area first to make sure it doesn't damage the surface. We like how it helps to clean the edges of the concrete landscape-just move quickly to avoid damaging the softer concrete.

If you happen to have a soap nozzle, they will usually work with the delivery system when spraying detergent or foaming agent and water. Most high-pressure cleaners either come with an onboard detergent tank or allow you to connect the tube directly to the detergent container. It allows you to spray vehicles, boats or surfaces quickly and easily without worrying about high-pressure nozzles damaging delicate paint or materials.

You can also use a third-party foam cannon located at the end of the wand and include their own low-pressure nozzle.

Okay, let's wrap it all up. The trick to choosing the right high pressure washer nozzle or tip is to find the widest nozzle you can use and it can still clean the surface effectively. In this way, you can make the most effective use of the pressure washer and time.

If you are working on a surface that has never been cleaned before, first try using a 40° high pressure washer nozzle where it is not in the way. Use a nozzle about 2 feet from the surface to hit the trigger and push it closer until you see it start to clean. If you don't see the result a few inches from the nozzle, try reducing the next size and repeat until you make progress without risking damage to the surface.

If you do notice that you are starting to damage what you are working on, exit immediately and clean from a further place or switch to a wider nozzle.

So you know-the biggest secret is to take time to experiment. Every high-pressure cleaner is different, and there is no uniform answer to every situation. If you have any questions or feedback for us, please feel free to comment below, as always, thank you for watching!
