It’s impossible to prevent spills and splashes, even for experienced cooks. That’s why a good stovetop cleaner is a must-have. These formulas are extremely effective at removing grease, grime and baked-on food, which can save you from having to scrub at stains for days and help extend the life of your stovetop.

To clean a glass stovetop, look for Bar Keepers Friend Multipurpose Cooktop Cleaner. This cleaner has a no-scratch formula that won’t mar the glass, yet it cuts through stubborn grease and grime without scrubbing. There are no harsh abrasives in the cleaner, and it’s also effective at removing hard water stains, rust marks and tarnish, making it useful for cleaning other kitchen items, as well.

To use this cleaner, you simply shake it up, then squeeze it onto a damp sponge. Rub the cleaner onto the cooktop gently, then rinse thoroughly within one minute of application. When you wipe the surface dry, it will look shiny and new. This cooktop cleaner can also be used on ceramic stoves, but it should not be used on gold or silver; lacquered, painted or mirrored surfaces; or on polished stone.

Cerama Bryte Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner is a well-known formula for cleaning ceramic stoves—for good reason! This formula is inexpensive and easy to use, and it quickly removes stains from ceramic cooktops. Plus, it’s even safe to use on other smooth-top ranges, including radiant and halogen models. Cerama Bryte contains a mild abrasive that offers heavy-duty cleaning without scratching, and the cleaner doesn’t contain silicone or any other ingredients that will leave an oily film on your stove.

To use this product, squeeze a nickel-size drop onto each burner, making sure your stove has cooled down first. Rub briskly with a dry paper towel, then use a clean paper towel to buff off the excess. For additional cleaning power, you may want to use the brand’s cleaning pads or stovetop scraper.

Gas stovetops can be a bit harder to clean, as they don’t have a smooth surface, but the Weiman Gas Range Cleaner will get the job done in a flash. It has a heavy-duty formula that can remove tough stains, soap scum, lime scale and rust, yet it’s non-abrasive to prevent scratching. The cleaner comes in a convenient spray bottle, and it’s safe to use on ceramic, porcelain, fiberglass and tile.

To use the Weiman cleaner, spray the formula directly onto the dirty surface, then wipe away with a sponge or paper towel. Rinse the surface with a damp cloth, and you’re done! If you’re dealing with burned-on foods, you can also let the cleaner sit for 30 minutes before wiping it away.
